How To Identify Fake PR Domains?

Posted by admin | March 21, 2009 .

There are a lot of SEO advantages of snapping high PR expired domains. I wrote a detailed post about this topic “Monitor Expired Domains Powerful SEO And Link Building Technique” but you cannot trust on the apparent Page Rank of a domain unless you check every thing manually because there are some people who make fake Page Ranks for their domains to sell them at premier prices.

How They Create Fake Page Ranks?

A fake PR can be created by redirecting a website to a high PR site! Page Rank of that high PR domain starts appearing on the redirected domain. Even if the redirection is removed fake PR remains there for some period of time.

How To Identify Such Domains?

Any such fake PR domain cannot add any value to your site and you must identify such domains by doing the following things:

  • PR depends on the number of back links that a domain receives. You must check and verify all the backlinks cached by Google
  • You must check the cache snapshot of domains! A fake PR site most probably will have the snapshot of site to which it was redirected.
  • Check the site’s history in Way Back Machine!  It will give you an idea about the overall value of that domain.
