Microsoft Is Really Paying Search Engine Users OR It Is Just A Time Wastage?
Microsoft products serve as the backbone of today’s computer. Our computers with out its operating systems, office and other applications are dump and dull machines. Microsoft also provides quality online services and its messenger and Live mail services are widely used by millions of people world wide. But its search engines MSN and Live Search are not the first choice of users because of the Google’s rule.
Microsoft really want to eat a larger portion of search cake and that is the main reason why it tried to acquire Yahoo but Yahoo was more interested in Google which is evident from the recent Yahoo-Google ad deal. Now Microsoft is attracting users towards live search by offering some incentives.
How Microsoft Is Paying For Search?
Search Perks is the name of the system where you can sign up, currently it only works in internet explorer. You will get points (tickets) for every search that you will do on Live Search which can be redeemed for prizes. Live search is offering different types of prizes mainly in six categories and final deadline for registration is December 31, 2008.
Why Search Perks Is Useless?
Google is the first choice for most of the searchers and information seekers because it displays more relevant results. A site that Google indexes in few days, MSN and Live Search may take few months to index the same site. I’M not against MSN it is world’s third biggest search engine but I strongly believe that its technology and algorithm is much slower than that of Google.
In today’s world, life is very fast and people need quality and relevant information ,no one have time to search websites on the internet for some gifts. So, instead of working on their technology and algorithm Microsoft is offering incentives for searching which does not make any sense.
Although some people will search just for gifts but it will be a temporary, short term and artificial behavior. This will also affect advertisers because quality of traffic will be compromised.
Why Search Perks Is Not That Bad?
Many people use Live Search and now they can avail some additional benefits with search perks. In short, Search Perks is not that bad for those who regularly use Live Search but searching just to get some music downloads, cook books or even airline miles would be wastage of time.
